A great personal friend, motorsport author, former racer, forever enthusiast and simply wonderful and kind person in any realm, is gone. Michael Argetsinger has died, resulting from cancer, at his and his wife Lee’s home in Chicago. Michael is seen here while driving around the 6.6-mile “Old Course” at Watkins Glen, New York, as we did an easy sedan lap of the road race circuit made famous as venue for the first Sports Car Grand Prix in America 66 years ago on October 2, 1948. The historic racing event was founded by Michael’s late father, Cameron Argetsinger. Jean Argetsinger, Michael’s mother, later created the Research Library at the now world-renowned International Motor Racing Research Center at Watkins Glen. The Argetsinger family and countless number of Michael’s friends will miss the elegant charm, award-winning talent, and gentle thoughtfulness of this extraordinary man.
